Acupuncture

The photo features a detailed bust illustration highlighting meridians of the body and acupuncture points along the face and head. The diagram is marked with colorful lines and labels to show the flow of energy through various meridians, with specific pressure points for headaches.

Acupuncture, a key component of Chinese medicine, involves the insertion of fine needles into specific pressure points on the body to stimulate healing and balance. This technique is particularly effective for addressing various health concerns, including women’s health issues and pressure points for headaches. By targeting these precise points, acupuncture helps to relieve tension and restore energy flow, providing relief from headaches and other ailments. Acupuncture works by promoting the body's natural healing processes and improving overall well-being, showcasing the profound benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in modern holistic care.

Among other benefits, a landmark study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 1998 found that 75.4% of women suffering from breech presentations before childbirth had fetuses that rotated to the normal position after receiving moxibustion at an acupuncture point on the bladder meridian.

Cupping (stationary & moving)

The photo features a set of glass cups used for cupping therapy. The cups are designed to create suction on the skin to enhance circulation and relieve muscle tension. Cupping is often combined with massage at our suite near Pineville.

Cupping therapy is a practice rooted in Eastern medicine and has been used for over 2,500 years. The benefits of cupping therapy include relieving aches and pains, improving circulation, and supporting respiratory and digestive health. During a session, specialized cups are placed on specific points on the body, and suction is applied to draw the skin upward into the cups. This process, which is not painful, helps to bring fresh blood to the area, aiding in the cleansing and strengthening of your Qi (energy). The marks from cupping therapy, which appear as temporary discolorations on the skin, indicate where the therapy has stimulated blood flow and improved energy balance, leading to an enhanced overall sense of health and well-being.

Gua Sha

The photo shows hands applying Gua Sha oil to a client from Matthews as part of a Gua Sha treatment. This step is crucial for achieving optimal Gua Sha results. The setup also subtly hints at potential Gua Sha before and after results, emphasizing the transformative benefits of this therapeutic technique.

Gua Sha, an ancient healing technique from Chinese Medicine, is gaining recognition in the West for its effectiveness. This method is widely used in Asia to treat chronic pain, stress, fatigue, and various other conditions.
During a Gua Sha massage, special oil is first applied to specific meridian points on the body. A smooth, round-edged tool, like a spoon, is then used to make short, brisk strokes over the area. This process creates red patches on the skin, known as "Sha," which helps detoxify the blood and restore healthy Qi (energy) flow. There is no pain involved, and the Sha typically fades within 2 to 3 days. The Gua Sha results often lead to lasting improvements in health and vitality, extending beyond the immediate effects of the treatment.
The visible changes in Gua Sha before and after treatments include improved skin health, detoxification, enhanced circulation, and reduced muscle tension.

Electroacupuncture is a highly effective holistic therapy for managing pain, nausea, and chronic ailments. It builds upon the principles of traditional acupuncture, utilizing the same system of Chinese Medicine. During the procedure, very thin, sterile needles are inserted into specific points along the meridians of the body. These needles are then connected to a device that delivers gentle electrical pulses between selected points. This stimulation helps to restore the healthy flow of Qi (energy) through the meridians, addressing any blockages and clearing stagnant areas. As a result, electroacupuncture promotes a stronger, clearer experience of health and well-being.

Medical Qi Gong

The photo captures a participant attending Qi Gong classes in SouthPark. They are engaged in gentle, flowing movements. illustrating the Qi Gong benefits, including improved flexibility, reduced stress, and enhanced energy flow.

Medical Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese practice that combines slow movements, conscious breathing, and focused mental attention to enhance the flow of Qi (energy) throughout the body. Unlike Western medicine, which often addresses symptoms, Medical Qi Gong targets the root of ailments by promoting holistic healing—mentally, emotionally, and physically. When comparing Qi Gong vs. Tai Chi, both involve slow, deliberate movements, but Qi Gong focuses more on energy flow and internal balance, while Tai Chi emphasizes fluidity and martial aspects. Qi Gong classes offer a comprehensive approach to wellness, addressing the entire being rather than just the symptoms.

Acupressure

The photo features a detailed illustration of pressure points on the body. It highlights pressure points for sleep, showing locations on the body that can be stimulated to promote restful sleep. Additional target points can address a range of health concerns including acupressure points for anxiety and pressure points for nausea.

Acupressure is founded on the ancient principle that touching specific points on the body can release stress and enhance overall health. During an acupressure massage, I apply firm pressure to targeted "points" to alleviate muscle tension and improve circulation. This technique is particularly effective for treating various conditions, including pressure points for menstrual cramps, sciatica, and headaches. As an experienced acupressurist, I use this powerful method to provide relief and promote well-being, addressing issues such as backaches and insomnia through precise and intentional pressure.
